If saving energy is what you're looking for then solar panels are just what you need. With affordable prices and excellent customer service all year round, you definitely can't go wrong.

Have you ever come to ask yourself, what is a solar controller?

A solar controller is an electronic device that controls the circulating pump in a solar hot water system to harvest as much heat as possible from the solar panels and protect the system from overheating. A solar charge controller is considered necessary in all solar systems safeguarding the batteries from overcharge and excessive discharge. The purpose of the controller in the solar system is to reassure that the battery is charged to its fullest and to keep it charged to the fullest without destruction to the battery.

So where does the solar controller come into effect in the whole solar power process?

The main purpose of the solar controller is to react to the sun's power and turn on the circulating pump when heat is available in the solar panels to move the working fluid through the solar panels to the heat exchanger at the thermal store.

When does the heat of the solar panel become available?

The heat of the solar panel becomes available when the temperature of the solar panel is greater than the temperature of the water in the heat exchanger. By turning off the pump when the store reaches its maximum temperature, you can achieve overheat protection.

Here are 5 things to consider when building a solar-powered home:

1. Expense

2. Coverage Area

3. Insulation Rating

4. Surroundings

5. Maintenance
